DR AMEER SHEHAB
GP + Psychotherapist | Neurodivergence, Trauma + Complex Mental Health
Dr Ameer Shehab is a General Practitioner and Psychotherapist with a clinical focus on neurodivergence, trauma-informed care, and complex mental health presentations. He provides comprehensive, patient-centred care for adults whose needs often require more time, depth, and individualisation than is available in standard consultation settings.
Dr Shehab offers extended consultations to allow for thorough assessment, formulation, and collaborative care planning. His work commonly involves individuals seeking clarity around ADHD and autism, as well as those navigating trauma-related conditions and eating disorders.
He has completed training in autism assessment using tools including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). He is also a Certified Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC).
Dr Shehab takes a structured, evidence-informed, and collaborative approach to care. He recognises that many patients presenting with complex or longstanding concerns may have previously felt unheard or misunderstood, and aims to provide a space where these experiences can be explored in a thoughtful and clinically grounded way.
Where appropriate, he works closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, and other health professionals to support coordinated, multidisciplinary care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Shehab is involved in advocacy and governance within the mental health and medical sectors, including roles with the Australian Society of Psychological Medicine and the Australian Medical Association.’
Dr Ameer Shehab is an independent medical practitioner consulting from Northcote Medical.
